A hardware security key is a small device that you can buy to help prove it’s you signing in. When we need to make sure it’s you, you can simply connect the key to your phone, tablet, or computer. Depending on the model of your security key and your device platform, you may connect your key using USB or NFC.

Vaulted supports FIDO-compatible U2F keys such as , or .

Tip: Security keys are one of the most secure second steps for signing in to Vaulted account.

To avoid lock out, it is important to generate and store them securely. We recommend you setup at-least two 2-Step Verification methods.

Setup

  1. Navigate to Account Settings > 2-Step Verification > Security Keys.

  2. Click on Add Security Key button.

  3. Insert your security key into a USB port or tap a NFC compatible key on your phone.

  4. Tap the sensor (gold contact) on your security key.

  5. Your security key is now registered.

You can register up to 3 security keys per account. Any of these keys will verify the 2-Step Verification. We recommend registering at-least 2 security keys (in-case you lose a key).
