Vaulted supports popular methods of 2-Step Verification (also known as two-factor authentication or 2FA) to add an extra layer of security to your account. After you set it up, you’ll sign in to your account in two steps using:

  • Something you know (your Master password)

  • Something you have (like your phone or a security key dongle)

Vaulted supports the following:

  • TOTP generator apps such as Google and Microsoft Authenticator

  • Hardware security keys - FIDO (such as YubiKey or Google Titan or SoloKeys)

  • Vaulted Echo Biometric App (Fingerprint authentication)

To learn more about these methods or for setup instructions click on the links below.

Setup 2-Step Verification

To enable 2-Step Verification, you must configure at-least one of the methods in your vault. Navigate to Account Settings and under "2-Step Verification" you can individually configure the method. The available options depend on your level.

For detailed setup instructions for these methods select the links above

To avoid lock out, it is important to generate Backup Codes and store them securely. We recommend you setup at-least two 2-Step Verification methods.

Set up Backup Codes

Backup codes help you get back into your account if you cannot verify the 2-Step (when you lose your phone or hardware security key, or can’t verify for another reason). With backup codes, you’re much less likely to get locked out of your account.

Store these Backup Codes in a secure place. Each code can be used only once. We recommend that you generate new codes periodically.
